Charles Messier (1730 - 1817) was a famous comet hunter and is nowadays famous for his Catalog of Nebulae and Star Clusters. The catalog contains 110 deep sky objects, commonly referred to as the Messier Catalog.
Each entry in the catalog is named using the initial letter 'M' (for 'Messier' obviously) and the catalog number. Examples include M1 (Crab Nebula) and M31 (Andromeda Galaxy). Below are my attempts to capture some of the Messier objects. Some objects always lie below my local horizon, so this table will probably never be complete.
