Vixen Super Polaris

German Equatorial Mount

I bought this mount back in 1986, it was during the Halley period. I also bought a Vixen 90mm refractor then, hoping to do som good observations of the comet and planets.

It turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment. I now understand it was mostly due to my inexperience in observing, and the lack of a good observing site. I had hoped to do astro photo, and I tried it using a 35mm camera on the planets. The results were totally frustrating, at best small specks on the film. My latest experience with the very same mount is, however, totally different: It is an excellent mount!

The scope and mount went into hibernation for several years. It came back to life December 2000 and it is now being used with the C8 on my concrete pillar
